Frequently Asked Questions

By: Richmond Veterinary Clinic

Are you open on public holidays?

No, we are not open on public holidays. In an emergency please call us.

Do you sell animals?

No. Occasionally some of our patients need to find a new home because their owner is unwell, and we do try to find homes for foundling kittens.

Do I need to make a booking?

Yes, every time. Please call in business hours to make a booking. When possible we will see ‘drop ins’, but owners with a booking will be seen first. Even in emergencies, try to give us a phone call first to give us time to prepare.

Can I email the clinic to make a booking?

No. We need to work out why you are coming and select the best time for you and us, so please call to make a booking.

How can I make payment?

Richmond Vet Clinic accepts all credit cards, EFTPOS and cash. We do not run accounts at all, and payment in full is due after each visit. ( this reduces our costs so our fees are less )

Do you make house calls?

Yes, we do local house calls. They are by prior arrangement, and cost extra. When possible our house visits are in the early afternoon. Because it is difficult to carry a Veterinary Clinic on our backs, we prefer to restrict house calls to those who are house bound etc.

Do you do microchipping?

Yes. A standard appointment is all we need, or it can be added to any visit.

Do you do cat grooming?

Yes, please call for details.

Can I purchase heartworm and flea treatments over the counter?

Yes, we carry a wide range of products.

What do I need to do to bring my pet to the Clinic?

Because the car park and waiting room are open to the public there are certain requirements. Dogs must be on a short lead at all times, and cats must be in a secure carry basket with a solid plastic base. These are also the requirements to transport your pet in the car.

Do you look at birds and fish and other unusual pets?

We are usually able to provide straightforward care for these special pets. Because we see few of them, we do not have the full equipment range. We can recommend specialist veterinarians.

What times are you open?

Please see the home page. If at all possible we try to meet special requests, so phone us to talk it over: – no promises though.
