Sally's Story

Finally I went on a horse riding camp. My sister and I went to a place called Otford Farm. Because it was a farm, there were cows. One cow was called Miss Polly and she had a calf. Another was called Milo and she was about to have her calf. She didnt have it while we were there bad luck for us. She was yellowish coloured.
There were two goats and they were white and black, there were three bunny rabbits, a few chickens, a few ducks and of course heaps of horses. The pony I got was called Play Boy. He was brown with white stockings. While we were there we went to a waterfall. It was so beautiful but the water was freezing. We went on lots of trail rides. The one I liked the best was called 40 acres. It was a ride where you went ZOOM! Up the hill you went on your horse or pony. I went at fast canter. That was heaps of fun! On the last day there we had a Gymkhana. A Gymkhana is a type of horse or pony show. In the Gymkhana you did things like hold on to the reins and get your horse or pony to walk or trot and go round obstacles. Then you get on your horse or pony and do the same things. Then we got into teams and did some relays. We got some ribbons. I got second for most improved and third for the relays. Then we said farewell to our horses and ponies. Then we went home.

"Dear Tim, Donna and Family,

Hello, How are you? I am going to Pony Club now on my beautiful 14.2hh Appaloosa Grey Gelding Mysteria Cavalier (My Sty for short). I cannot thank you enough for all the things you taught me. Attending your week long holiday camp helped me learn what I needed to know when I came to you THE BASICS! Not only did I learn practical horse sense & safety in theory but I tried it myself and developed necessary skills and got some worthy knowledge too.
It was such a thrill to be able to look after a horse for a whole week, and actually being able to eat real yummy and delicious food. I remember the last day of my first camp, when I won my ribbon in the Gymkhana I was so proud and things have just carried on from there. I enjoyed all 3 camps I came to, learning more and more each time.

Thank you so much for taking me for work experience as well, I have learnt so much invaluable knowledge. I hope parents realize that this is a great opportunity for their children as one thing you certainly do is have FUN!"

Thank you again from Kristen & My Sty
