Frequently Asked Questions
How long do they usually stay?
Barkin Beautiful Grooming Studio has a similar design to a human hair dressing salon... we have appointments through out the day, so your pet needs only to stay for the time we need them. Usually an estimated time of 2.5 hours. Please be aware on busy days and Christmas holidays, we may have some unexpected delays and grooming time might take a little longer.
When is a good time to introduce my puppy to grooming?
Getting a puppy familiar to grooming should start as soon as you bring your puppy home. Using a slicker bush and a comb, gently brush your puppy all over their body getting them used to areas being groomed like their face, feet and bottom area. After their 3rd injection at the vets ( 12-16 weeks) they can come in for their first grooming experience. On their first visit we recommend a puppy clip ( face, feet, tail and nails ) with a bath and blow dry. This will get them used to a short time away from their owners and to the sounds and handling never experienced before. Their first time should always be a positive experience.
My dog bites, what do you do?
Every dog is different, and some dogs don't take to grooming as well as others. At Barkin Beautiful we try and work with every dogs specific needs in a positive and gentle handling approach. A muzzel may be used to protect us from getting bitten and your pet from biting sharp scissors and clippers.
Do you sedate dogs?
No! Sedation should be left to vets. Most dogs have no need to be sedated. With professional handling techniques with an experienced groomer, most dogs take to grooming with a wagging tail. Eventually with a regular grooming routine your pet becomes used to being clipped and eventually enjoys the experience. Who doesn't like to be pampered for a couple of hours?
