Burmilla: The Ultimate Feline Fantasy
If you would like a cat which is extremely affectionate, friendly, gentle, highly intelligent and has an easy going and laid back personality then the Burmilla may be the cat for you.
The Burmilla is an undemanding cat that makes the ideal companion for any age group. They relate well to other pets and quite happily adjust to an entirely indoor lifestyle, making it perfect for apartment dwelling or equally at ease in a family home.
Burmilla Beginnings
The fabulous nature and good looks of the Burmilla is a result of their original breeding which was an accidental mating between a Burmese and a Chinchilla Persian occurring in England in 1981. In 1994 a breeding program was established in Australia using the same guidelines as the original English program using only the highest quality Australian cats.
Colours and Coat Patterns
The Burmilla comes in five acceptable colours: Black, Blue, Brown, Chocolate and Lilac and two coat patterns - Tipped and Shaded.
They are a stunningly beautiful cat with its green eyes and red brick nose outlined in dark colour giving them an appealingly sweet expression. The Burmilla has an ethereal quality which comes as a result of it having a pure white undercoat with the colour restricted to the tips of the hair giving the impression of being sprinkled with colour. The coat is short and feels like silk to the touch.
