Beyond Basics Training Course

This is an intermediate course for dogs that have graduated from the Scholars in Collars Basic Training Course or have reached up to Grade 4 in a dog obedience club. Dogs must have a current vaccination and, because of the course format, dogs must be people and dog friendly.

This course builds on skills gained in the Basic Course and aims to:

• Build a reliable recall with distractions
• Increase duration and distance on stays including with distractions
• Teach your dog to respond to hand signals from a distance
• Teach your dog to respond to voice cues only
• Teach new skills including targeting, weaving, agility obstacles, scenting games and tricks
• Improve heelwork – developing consistency including change of pace and turns

This 4-week course comprises four classes that are approximately 50 minutes in duration. All classes are held with dogs. Classes are held at various times & locations. For your comfort and to enable uninterrupted year round training, all venues are indoors.

The course has been designed to be flexible to suit your individual needs and those of your dog. There are opportunities to discuss individual problems either as a group, or privately with me during the course.

Class numbers are limited to 5 - 7 dogs (depending on venue) to ensure individual attention for you and your dog during the course and bookings are essential. The course cost is $85.00 and is payable in advance.
