Skills Class

The Skills Class is all about teaching the dog all the obstacles, including contact training and basic hurdle training.

Skills class will be focused on equipment skills (start to finish).

Skills class is not just about teaching the new dog and handler – but also about more experienced dog and handler teams maintaining their skills and criteria. The class will include the following:

• Relationship Building – including games, tugging, hand touches
• Shaping Skills
• Quarter Turns
• Pivot Boxes
• Rear end Awareness (walking backwards)
• Restrained Recalls
• Crates, Crate Training and Crate Games
• 1-2-3 Game
• Collar Game
• 60/30/15 Second Routine
• Tugging (If not possible – they have 60/30/15 second routine)
• Start Line
• Shadow Handling (circle work) - inside and outside circle
• Nose Touching a Target
• Travel Plank – from first step of shaping dog to stand still on the plank (all four feet on the plank) – through to advanced work
• Weave Poles - 3 pole or 2 pole method
• Jump Grid work and Susan Salo Spider
• Susan Garrett - One Jump DVD work
• Basic Front Cross and Rear Cross
• Three or Four Hurdles in a line
• Dog Walk between Two Low Tables
• Turn around on Plank, on and off & restrained recalls on plank
• Tyre, Long Jump, Pipe Tunnel, Cloth Tunnel and Table (Shape these)
• See-Saw – Bang Game, Elevator Game
• Full Height A-frame, Dog-walk and See-saw – for those at the end of their training

Fee: $5.00 per week

Training Time: set up 5:30 and starts at 5:45pm.
