Victorian Dog Training Academy's philosophy is to train all dogs and people to the highest standards possible. All of our instruction is designed to enhance the training experience, and to help you bond more closely with your dog.

Unlike obedience clubs, "we conduct real life training" at our indoor training centre and out in public areas. We also have group field excursions throughout the year which offers students the opportunity to practice and perfect newly acquired skills with professional instructors by your side every step of the way.

Why wait until your puppy is out of control and causing problems in your home, as we train puppies from any age. Early training enables us to solve training or behaviour issues before they take hold.

We highly recommend that all family members (children and adults) are involved in the training process and we welcome children to participate as they are generally the ones playing in the backyard with the dog. Children therefore must learn the correct way to interact and establish a leadership role with the dog.

Training
Our goal is to establish and promote a proper relationship between you and your dog. Our methods are fast, effective, and very easy for you to learn. The techniques we use utilize your dog’s natural drives and instincts, so your dog will learn commands faster and easier than with less behaviour-based methods. Our approach also helps your dog respond, respect and bond to you more readily. At the Victorian Dog Training Academy, we use various training methods including food luring, clicker training, and compulsion. We rarely use a single method on any one dog, but usually a combination of methods.

Behaviour Modification
Behaviour modification is the process used to solve behaviour related problems. Behaviour issues and problems don't simply go away on their own, they more often than not manifest into huge and potentially lethal problems for the owner and neighborhood.

Behaviour Counseling
Our behaviour counseling sessions usually take around two hours, and during this time an extensive history, questionnaire and assessment will be conducted. (It may be helpful for you to take the time prior to your session to compile a detailed list of the day to day activities of your pet/s. This should include everything that you do with your pet/s from the time you wake up in the morning, to the time you go to bed in the evening! This includes everything your dog/s eats, treats and all!) Once this has been completed we can then give you all of the information you need to implement the changes required to modify your pet’s behaviour. We look forward to meeting with you, and helping you to overcome the issues and problems that you have with your pet/s.
