Based in Kelmscott, Western Australia, the WA Dog Grooming and Clipping Academy specialises in the creative clipping of all breeds, from the pampered pooch to best in show. With over 30 years experience in the industry, owners Kim and David Dean have established a successful business, offering clients award-winning services. We use quality veterinary line products such as Virbac, a trusted veterinary line.

 

As well as grooming and clipping we also offer:

  • Scissor sharpening and hollow grounding
  • Clipper maintenance and repairs
  • Mobile sharpening service (including horse clippers and tools)
  • Repairs & services to all grooming equipment, hydrobaths and dryers
  • Dog grooming and clipping course (1 day to 12 days)

Dog Grooming and Clipping Training available!

This course has been personally designed to provide exclusive one-on-one practical training in the professional workplace. Students gain the introductory knowledge and the skills necessary to perform a variety of pet grooming and clipping techniques. International enquiries welcome, accomodation is avaialble.

  • Course Outline
    • Equipment and maintenance
    • Breed clips
    • Poodles basic grooming
    • Mixed breeds clipping
    • Health and welfare
    • Understanding skin conditions, flea control, shampoo and rinses
    • Anal gland expression, dental hygiene, ear cleaning and plucking, and nail trimming
    • Techniques of scissoring, blending and the use of universal comb attachments.
  • Grooming Kit

All participants are able to purchase a grooming kit or components from the shop within our premises at a discounted price. All equipment is supplied for the duration of the course.

  • Duration

1/2 day or 12 day courses available by appointment.

  • Certificate

On successful completion of our course students will receive an ‘endorsed certificate of competency' from us.

You can visit us or we can come to you with our fully equipped mobile service. We also repair and sell all grooming equipment, including:

  • A range of single or double tank hydro baths with or without dryers
  • Liberty grooming products, Ezycoat and Oldfield dryers, grooming tables and control arms
  • WAHL, Oster and Andis one speed and two speed clippers
  • An extensive range of quality Oster, WAHL and Andis blades, surgical blades and Jaguar, Roseline, WAHL and Sheer Magic scissors
  • Dog, cattle and horse clippers.

Training
We offer a comprehensive course to provide students with the introductory knowledge and skills necessary to perform a variety of pet grooming and clipping techniques.

 

The Puppy Program

This is a monthly program consisting of four hair cuts over four consecutive weeks.The Puppy Program has many benefits for you and your puppy:

  • Puppy gets used to salon environment
  • Puppy gets used to the dryers and vibrations of machines
  • Makes the job easier for owner, dog and groomer in the future.
